Smart Homes rely on a good home network backbone, especially when using WiFi smart home products like the sonoff basic. This means that smart homes rarely work well on ISP provided routers therefore it's important to invest in a good home router early on in your smart home journey.

The linksys Velop is an excellent choice here. I have had mine running for just over 2 years now and I cannot fault it. In the early days of the system it had a few issues but these have been ironed out through firmware updates. The Velop system is a mesh network that you can add additional nodes to as required. I'm currently using 2 nodes and it's working really well considering I have over 50 WiFi and wired devices connected to the network.

The app works really well too and can be used from outside of your network as well. If your network backbone is good you should never even know its there and that’s exactly what you get with the Linksys Velop systems. There is even a skill for alexa so you can ask her for your WiFi password if you forget it. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a mesh network router.
